The GOP had a cash advantage (as the incumbent party often does), but that didn't stop Democrats in 2006.

The GOP had a cash advantage (as the incumbent party often does), but that didn't stop Democrats in 2006.

It didn't stop them in the Senate, but the Dems left a lot of House seats on the table that they then picked up later or the Republicans shored up. If Democrats had unlimited money to spend, they would have picked up a few seats in California that were on nobody's radar in 2008.

It does seem like Senate spending has reached the point of maximum returns for both parties.
