It could be in either house or senate. I don't see why many would want to stay on board a sinking ship this election cycle.

Not sure but I hope a lot of House members in Conservative districts. However I hope Reid doesn't retire.

I am personally hoping for some California Democrats to retire. Cardoza or Costa could open up competitive house races in the Central Valley, while Harman could leave a somewhat competitive race in her district if a first rate Republican emerges.

You do know that more Republicans are retiring than Dems....

Almost all of whom smell fresh blood in other races.

There are only three GOPers retiring for no reason(Radanovich, Shadegg, and Brown)

Whereas the Dems have Vic Snyder, Brian Baird, Dennis Moore, John Tanner, Bart Gordon. Five beats three.

The others are running for Governor, Senator, and most of those, Zach Wamp, Artur Davis, Gresham Barrett, Pete Hoekstra, Jerry Moran, Todd Tiarht, Kendrick Meek, Nathan Deal etc represent safe seats for there party. And there is Adam Putnam's seat which is Likely GOP. So these retirments really don't matter.

There are exceptions like Castle, and Kirk on the GOP side and Charlie Malencon on the Dem side.

So right now I would say they are EVEN in retirements when you weigh the risks of losing the seats.

Edit: Actually on second thought I change my mind. The GOP has an advantage in retirements because of those retiring all of those on the GOP side are safe except Castle and Kirk. Whereas almost all the seats the Dems are leaving open in the first categoy and the last category(Tanner, Gordon, Melancon, Baird, Moore, and Snyder) are all Lean GOP or toss-up.

I'm not sure if it'll happen but I hope Dan Boren(OK-02) retires. That would make NE, KS, and OK completely red (assuming we win the open KS-03 seat and keep Lee Terrys(NE-02) seat)

Also, if Gene Taylor(MS-04) would retire. He won't lose re-election, so the only way to rid him is for him to leave.

And maybe Lincoln Davis(TN-04).

Davis the most likely of that list. Also both Pomeroy and Herseth-Sandlin are going to be in close races this year.

How about Heath Shuler?

In terms of retirement, doubt it.

I doubt that he would have gone to all the trouble of switching if he was just going to retire.  I could have understood a "Screw you, I'm in my last term and I'm doing whatever I want" attitude.

Hopefully Jerry McNerney doesn't leave. He's a nice person.

But, alas, he's probably going down. Sad

That is what I am wondering. A Republican winning in Massachusetts should be making many Dems want to jump ship.

Well, according to Ed Rollins...those Democrats who don't retire will just be switching parties.

You're probably looking at taking over the House, the Senate, every Democratic State legislature, every Governorship and the entire District of Columbia City Council between now and Nov. 3rd of this year.

Congratulations in advance.

Haha, JS. You know, if school vouchers became the issue in DC, it is barely possible the GOP could take over the DC City Council. If. Oh well. Smiley
