The key statement from Sen. Evan Bayh in the Los Angeles Times article:

"Whenever you have just the furthest left elements of the Dem party attempting to impose their will on the rest of the country -- that’s not going to work too well.”

Yeah, and Evan, water is wet and fire is hot.

What country is he talking about? The "furthest left elements of the Dem party" have been completely abandoned in an attempt to please people who don't want any kind of compromise and who represent a clear MINORITY of Americans.

Why is it so hard to find even one or two elected politicians who don't buy into the absurd conventional wisdom that states that the left of the Democratic Party can always be taken for granted and that they always turn out to vote? I guess it's totally impossible to imagine that some people might disapprove of Obama because he's a pussy who gives Republicans everything they want in an attempt to appear transcendent and post-partisan. Why does every single person in the media and in national politics think that everyone who disapproves of him hates him because he's a far-left America-hating socialist?

Yeah, it's nuts. The far left of the Dem party had one #1 issue... the public option.

The public option is more popular than Obama, health care, or any Dem out there right now.

Between the tax on the wealthy and the 'cadillac tax', the tax on the wealthy, the liberal option, was more popular by a 2-to-1 margin.

So who do these 'centrists' really work for? I am all for centrism. But this is not real centrism, this is phony centrism. This is insularity disguised as centrism.

To take an example. Where do the bank bailouts fall on the political spectrum? Hated by the Right. Hated by the Left. Hated by the Center.

What matters isn't centrism, it's Populism! The left is populist, the right is populist, and the center is populist. Populism is the new centrism. Populism, populism, populism.

Thank you for bringing up the bailouts for the financial institutions.

I'm a little busy right now, but will try to spend some time this weekend comparing both ACU and ADA ratings of both Senate and House members to see if there is any correlation between those ratings and the votes on the bailouts.

Not impossible, but difficult. Or more accurately, it is difficult to imagine there being a sizeable number of them. The view you describe is simply pathological in its inability to distinguish fact from prejudice.

Agreed.

But he is not talking about any country.  He is talking about Indiana.  Where he intends NOT to be defeated in the next election.

I'm so sick of this guy, I could almost vote Republican just to get rid of him.

Hah! A majority wanted Democrats to push through their agenda? Not a chance. Democrats won because the Republicans started unfunded wars, expanded government, and had poor ethics, despite campaigning on the opposite.

Oh, and a public option doesn't have 2 to 1 support. If you say, "government option" or "insurance option administered by the federal government", a majority oppose.

Evan Bayh is DLC deadwood who should be primaried so that we'll have either a real Democrat or a honest Republican. 37% of Democrats who voted for Brown said that Democrats weren't doing enough to stand up to Republicans. People are sick of this DLC nonsense of bailing out Wall Street when Main Street is unemployed. Bayh wants Democrats to pander even more to Wall Street. That's not a winner in November. The Democrats need to be more populist here.

You missed my point. To make it clearer: when you describe "what the American people want" (or whatever) you are describing what you want. You are making the (common) error of assuming that your beliefs and values are the norm within your society.
