Give NJ to Jackson. Reagan is too conservative to win there in a Democratic year.

Reagan would have represented a break from the Nixon-Ford era, while Jackson the Democratic warmonger would have been unelectable. Reagan gets his landslide four years earlier.

LOL.  Reagan was as much, if not more, of a warmonger than Scoop was.

Ben, you should give NJ to Jackson on your map for reasons I listed above.

Actually no, but what is your point anyway? Jackson would have gotten crushed.

Jackson could have tied Watergate and the poor economy to Reagan since Nixon and Reagan were from the same party. This would have allowed Jackson to have a good chance at winning.

Which send moderate-liberal Ford voters either to Jackson or to stay home.

Right, moderate-liberals of the 1970s flocking to a rabid Cold Warrior with a neoconservative pedigree that made even Ronald Reagan look almost moderate in comparison. Roll Eyes

Sorry, but your kind of president wouldn't be electable until Bush in 2000.

I think Jackson would have done fairly well among whites in the South.

Exactly, and BTW, the Republicans would still be blamed for Watergate and the poor economy even if Reagan was not directly responsible.
