In my opinion, it shouldn't. Freedom of religion, either organized or not, is a civil right. I may not agree with some organized religion's views, but I think that everyone has the right to believe in his or her God, or spiritual force, or whatever. The same for those who don't actually believe in that stuff.

But I strongly support separation between Church and State. Churches shouldn't interfere in politics. And the government shouldn't interfere in religion, nor give a Church a special status.
Using taxes to financially support churches is not fair, unless each individual decides to do so with his or her money.

No, of course not. It would require a highly oppressive system to do so, and freedom of religion and freedom of association are important rights anyways.

As fun an idea as that might be, it simply isn't feasible. Laughing at organized religions should be encouraged at all times though.

This.
There is nothing that will kill organized religion quicker than itself.

No. I strongly disagree with organized religion, but trampling on the natural rights of others over it seems silly to me.

If pot is any indication, banning organized religion would lead to a lot of religious teenagers.

Being a fascist is better than believing in fascism.

Besides, you have a more authoritarian social PM score than Opedo, so who are you calling a fascist?

I think people need something to believe in, whether it is right or wrong or whether it exists or not. I think that those who are religious need to be religious, as they need the security that comes with being governed by a superior being. If there was no organized religion, chaos would ensue, as the normally religious would rebel against having their faith taken away. When people have nothing to believe in, they collapse.

Only 15% of the forum are leftist authoritarians?  I would have guessed more like 30%.

No.  Banning something often makes it stronger.

And as Eraserhead said, the best way to deal with religion is to give it the mocking it deserves.

To do so would only give it significance, thus prolonging its natural extinction from rational society.

Hah! Auguste Comte would like to agree with you, but he's been saying the same thing for almost 200 years.

It may take yet another 200 years, but I do believe that the outcome is predictable and inevitable. Even today you can see the power of organized religion waning.
