I just kind of laughed when I saw this. Gerlach's going to have to fight for the nomination, as nobody seems interested in stepping aside for him.

You mean all five [I think] of the people on the GOP side contending for the open seat?  I suspect he'll be able to win the plurality here even if he's caught with a dead boy hooker.

Schroeder is out, one of the other guys is out, and Welch sounds like he's probably going to get out as well, so Gerlach is close to scot free.

What are Gerlach's chances for re-election? I assume he can win forever if he survived 06 and 08.

He'll never be safe, given the district's partisan lean, but 2010 will probably be his easiest election yet.

2008 was the year to take him out.  The DCCC sat this one out and I don't know why considering Obama massacred McCain in the district and a no-name almost beat Gerlach anyway.
