Try this one on for size -  What if Reagan had decided, against prior ideas, to campaign in Minnesota against Mondale. Do you think he could have won the state? Discuss.

In this case, Reagan would have definitely won all 50 states. If Reagan campaigned in Minnesota, he would have easily energized many Republicans and conservatives there and motivated them to come to the polls in larger numbers. I think Reagan would have beat Mondale by several percentage points and won the state with over 50% if he had campaigned there. Also, if Reagan won all 50 states in 1984, Bush Sr.'s margin of victory in 1988 could have been larger due to the Republican momentum from 1984, even though the margin might have been the same as well.
