From what I understand, New Jersey has become as ungovernable as California.

Define "popular". If you mean >50 approval ratings, probably like 3%.

Very low. Chris Christie will be defeated in a landslide in 2013 or somehow get out of running again.

Greater than 50%? Isn't 50% the ceiling for NJ politicians?

if we have "economic recovery" (i.e. jobs from the perspective of elected officials) by then, Christie (and Obama) and a lot of other incumbents will reap the benefits.

Depends on the economy.  If Christie Whitman could win re-election, this Christie can too.

Whitman won reelection in a booming economy that isnt likely to replicated anytime soon.

That's not true. We know who he is. But the whole country does not know who Robert Gates is. Why would they know Cory Booker?

You're both partially right.  The miracle-working mayor of Newark is very high-profile, though not nearly to the extent as, say, his neighbor Mike Bloomberg.

Which miracle is this?  Booker's been a good mayor, but I don't recall the Passaic turning from water to wine.

Newark still sucks.
