On October 3, 1919, Woodrow Wilson suffers a stroke while making a speech in Denver. A few hours later, he is pronounced dead. The new President, Thomas Marshall, calls upon the legacy of Wilson, while at the same time displaying a willingness to compromise, and the Senate as a result ratifies the Treaty of Versailles with minor reservations.
