Whilst perhaps not necessary, people are going to do it anyway, free speech is famed for producing views that others don't like.  Besides, it's not like libertarianism is the only ideology to receive flak from left, right and centre (both figuratively and literally).

There are crazy libertarians like Alex Jones, but most libertarians are fairly sane.
