DEM Primary:

Jerry Brown: 47%
Gavin Newsom: 27%

GOP Primary:

Meg Whitman: 22%
Tom Campbell: 20%
Steve Poizner: 9%

General Election:

Brown vs. Whitman: 50-29
Brown vs. Campbell: 48-27
Brown vs. Poizner: 50-25

Newsom vs. Whitman: 40-31
Newsom vs. Campbell: 38-33
Newsom vs. Poizner: 39-30

The findings in this report are based on a random sample survey of 1,005 registered voters in California, including 496 Democratic primary election voters and 373 Republican primary election voters. Interviewing was conducted by telephone in English and Spanish between September 18 and October 5, 2009.

Yeah Jerry Brown will most likely be our new governor. Not sure if the Republicans are allowing independents in their primary but if they do I will most likely vote for Campbell. That would make for a good race.

I highly doubt it will happen. Socal will turn out for Whitman. Poizner is probably too liberal for them also.

Whitman and Poizner currently have mini-scandals: Whitman has a lot of gaps in her voting history, and Poizner wrote a check to Al Gore's recount effort.  It's quite possible that the pro-choice, pro-gay marriage Campbell could win the CA GOP primary.

     Quite true, though it will still be an effort in vain against Jerry Brown.
