Are they any more rumors to this or has he officially said he's not interested?  You have to imagine as an independent, he would be in very solid shape.

Has there been alot of polling of this race, if any at all? I haven't seen anything like that yet, but I'd be interested if anyone had any.

And I certainly hope Chafee wins, regardless.

I definitely support Chafee for governor, and Fox for the next Speaker of the House. And I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens.

Would that get gay marriage passed, or does the State Senate need new leadership too?

The senate would need new leadership too.

I'm a big anti-fan of Carcieri. He's probably one of the most incompetent governors in the country and having Murphy and Teresa still running the legislature after 2010 would probably hinder the state no matter who's elected.

Without the Republican label I find Lincoln Chafee a bit more likable. He no longer has that sign on him that reads "hey look at me I'm so hardcore for disagreeing with my party on 90% of the issues!"

Now don't get me wrong, I approve of super fake RINOs more than I do dye in the wool far rightists, but they are just as annoying as DINOs like Dan Boren are.

In which case I'm going to bitch about it being either too short instead.

I will bitch about the 96% figure being entirely inaccurate.

What are the differences between Chafee and the Democrat?  Chafee supports Central American trade agreements?  Whatever, still an improvement Smiley

From the Boston Globe article on his website:

“I think the eventual next step is another party,’’ Chafee said. This new party, as Chafee envisions it, would be stingy with the public’s money, strong on the environment, and liberal on social issues, which sounds like a throwback to the old Rockefeller Republicans that once ruled the Northeast."

As much as I agree that America desperately needs that viewpoint, I think he's ridiculous if he thinks that a new Party is going to be generated out of it.  His departure from the Republican Party turned him from being the vanguard of the solution to being a part of the problem.

But if I lived in Rhode Island, he would have my vote.  He's a deeply decent man.

Well, it could be like Lieberman's "Connecticut for Lieberman" policy which is like being a Democrat but a complete hawk on foreign policy.  I don't think that will catch out and spread though
