How many members of Congress could be described as socially liberal and fiscally conservative?  Because I read somewhere that a majority of Americans would describe themselves as such, and the way things are now, it doesn't seem like that majority is represented in Congress.

I know, but I don't see how it relates to my question.

Problem is people are retarded and don't understand the definitions of the terms, and often give conflicting answers to polls.

For instance, during FDR's administration, the people said they wanted a balanced budget, but they also supported FDR's efforts to combat the Great Depression and elected him 3 more times.

People also disapprove of congress in large numbers, but the re-election rate to congress is ridiculously high. Only about a little less than a fifth of the country describes themselves as liberal, yet the majority of the country is pro-choice and about anywhere from 40-45% of the public supports gay marriage.

My point is, don't put much stock in labels, or trust people to describe labels correctly.

Also understand that the majority of Americans are uninformed and don't care to vote. The polarized folks are the ones motivated to get to the polls, which is why we see such polarizing figures in office. Your average Joe probably doesn't even care to vote, especially in congressional elections.

For that matter, most self-professed libertarians aren't really libertarian at all, as this forum well night proves. They'll pay lip-service to social liberalism when they're trying to convert liberals, and as soon as these are out of earshot they'll go right on back fag-bashing and pretending to be manly-men.

Sorry, Fallen.  I do not.  However, I understand your frustration with the responses you've received so far.
