I still don't like the question.

I prefer who improved their standing, not who won on points.

Given the rather large R advantage in the sample, one would have to assume Kerry won handily among independents in this poll.

38% Republican, 30% Democrat sample.

Accomodate for the imbalance, and you got a measurable Kerry victory.

Duh. I would have said Kerry won too.

The point is, more people were persuaded by Bush.

Why did CBS not release a poll for the second debate?  Anyone know or can I go conspiracy theory on it?

Not sure, but it's the same margin as CNN/Gallup has.

The CBS sample was composed solely of "persuadable voters",  not reflective of the overall likely voter population.

If snap polls show only that slim of a margin, then it is most likely when the real polling is done, the margine will decrease to a tie.

Kerry won on style, and that will show up in the polls

Bush won on substance, and that will show up in the horserace numbers

Again, why did CBS not do a focus group poll on the second debate?>  Or, if they did, why did they not release it?  And if they did release it, what was the result?

Just like the last time "Kerry won on style, and Bush on substance"?

I think we all know the effect that _really_ had.

Two different definitions of substance

Last time, it was the fact that Kerry's lines were empty and hollow - but they worked

This time, it's what Americans care about

Bush on substance??? He is president and can't answer a question about flu vaccine shortage, and starts talking about "tort reform".  The "education" president??? He comes from Texas, one of the worst states for public education in the country.  Substance of Bush, is more like Busch Lite. Kerry=Guiness

Bush on substance??? He is president and can't answer a question about flu vaccine shortage, and starts talking about "tort reform".

That is incorrect:

"Bob, we relied upon a company out of England to provide about half of the flu vaccines for the United States citizen, and it turned out that the vaccine they were producing was contaminated. And so we took the right action and didn't allow contaminated medicine into our country."

"We're working with Canada to hopefully -- that they'll produce a -- help us realize the vaccine necessary to make sure our citizens have got flu vaccinations during this upcoming season."

"The CDC, responsible for health in the United States, is setting those priorities and is allocating the flu vaccine accordingly."

He explained it clearly.  The Brittish vaccine was proved to be flawed, and therefore barred from being shipped into the US.  This is why we have the CDC, to test both domestic and foreign drugs, and this is why we don't freely import many of these drugs from Canada which Kerry and the activists are crying foul over.  Same reason why we barred RU-486 for such the longest time (for example).

Yes, Kerry won. I knew he would fifteen minutes into the debate. Bush did well though, I won't deny him that.
