http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20090825/NEWS0106/908250370/Democrat+Webb+wins+special+election+for+state+Senate+seat

As we heard earlier this month with the results in Delaware, summer special elections are very important. They are also great ways to gauge the national mood.

For the Republicans to lose a State Senate seat in Kentucky?

Republicans should be very worried.

The tide has turned!

LOL. The Democrat had a famous last name, the Republican was an orthodontist. Not that tough to figure out who would win.

Spoken like a true coastal elitist, deaf to the voices of America's heartland speaking loud and clear. I trust the people of Kentucky. Obamacare now.

This also shows that candidates who have previous elective experience and success have a definite advantage in a race where the opponent has none.

There's an old political maxim, "as goes Kentucky's 18th State Senate district, so goes the nation."

There's an LA special election today.

In the primary the Dems combined for 62%, while the Republican got 38%.

However, McCain got 70% here.

LA is a weird state politically.

Those are the two ways to look at this election and demonstrate that you are an idiot who'd best have kept his mouth shut.

The correct way to look at it is, of course, to see this as a personalized election between three candidates, and ask yourself how many of the first round loser's voters will vote today and how they will split. Knowing nothing of the candidates, I cannot answer that.
