All of us get elected because of our political party affiliation.

afleitch was not.

Indeed. AHDuke's statement is pretty much universally true when applied to JCP and RPP candidates and mostly untrue when applied to most other candidates for most of Atlasia's history.

Well, I was speaking more to the hear and now rather than the past. Afleitch aside, neither RowanBrandon, Marokai, or Fritz would've been elected if they were not in the party in which they were. That may change, but I cannot predict the future.

afleitch was too. I guarantee if he was in a party such as hmm, the RPP?, he would never have gotten any votes from the LNF just because of that.

Certainly we would question his judgement if he joined the RPP. But his membership in the DA was of no importance to us.

Just a quick statement before I head out for the day:

"I am disappointed that the Senate would be so quick to expand the reach of the federal government by it's almost certain passage of the Internet Infrastructure and Access Expansion Act. As you may not know, I was the sole vote against passage of this bill. This is an example of my independence and strict adherence to my principles and beliefs. Also, I was the sole vote against the Colombian Assistance and Stability Act. I don't feel Atlasia should be involving itself in the business of the sovereign country of Colombia. I am disappointed that this bill will pass so easily."

I must say I applaud your votes on the measure and am disappointed in my own party's senators.  Don't let it just be a tease Smiley

I agree. I like the idea, but creating a whole new bureaucracy is ridiculous.

I've always been a fan of alphabet soup approaches. Though I think too much government is always a danger, I see no harm in creating a mechanism for more efficient infrastructure building and internet development.

I have decided to join the Regional Protection Party as it was a mistake to leave in the first place, and due to the fact that I never fit in as a member of the DA. More to come later.

Statement:

"I want to make it clear in unequivocal terms, that I will not be returning to the RPP, and will be spending my entire term in the Senate as a member of the Democratic Alliance. When all is said and done, I feel that the all Atlasians, regardless of party, will be satisfied with my voting record in the Senate."

I'm obviously very much disappointed, but Rowan had the style to alert me and others in the party of his move prior to the announcement.

That is all.

Yes I said that, and at the time that's what I felt. But things change, and I must change accordingly. I just felt it was unfair to both me and the DA for me to be in a party that I didn't feel like I really did belong to.
