I've never played it, but I'm thinking of buying it, it looks fun, and what I've read, has a great story.

Election and History Games? That should go in Off-Topic, I think.

Starcraft was a pretty good ...and I guess still is a pretty good RTS.  I was more into the Command and Conquer series...and more importantly, I am more into FPS than RTS, but I did play quite a bit of Starcraft back in the day.  Probably played more Warcraft II though.  Now I only play turn base strategies (Civ 4) and FPS.  I don't remember the last RTS I"ve played...I guess Rise of Nations.

It's quite possibly the greatest RTS ever - it's over ten years old and you can still sometimes find it on store shelves, which is something you can't say of most games. Lots of people still play it. In South Korea, it's practically considered a national sport. Buy it and the expansion:

The only thing I expect might kill its popularity is the release of Starcraft II, and even then you'll still have a number of dedicated players.

Starcraft is good, Total Annihilation is better.

Because Blizzard is good at making money, there will be a World of Starcraft MMPRPG.  That should be interesting.

Is that true? Or is that just a guess?

Was a rumor, but it looks to be canceled.  (according to my WoW playing wife)
