I've got an idea for a game, and I am trying to think of ideas to make it work. It's supposed to be an "Italian City States" game, and there is one objective: To get rich.

There will be different ways to get rich:

First: Conquest. You will be able to increase your wealth by conquering provinces, and building a true, military-focused empire. If you are able to conquer all of Italy you will win by default, although I wouldn't advise this without enough money to sustain your military escapades.

Second: Trade. If a faction can reach unheard of terms of wealth, they will win the game. They can do this by controlling the trade routes across the Meditteranean and Europe. There will be four trade routes. One to Asia, Northern Europe, Iberia, and Africa.

I wouldn't advise only taking one route, but rather a combination of the two.

The Factions:

Aragon
Ferrara
Florence
Genoa
Milan
Modena
Savoy
Venice

Me: Papal States. I will be the effective moderator of this game, If it comes into existence. I will be able to excommunicate factions and call down the wrath of Christianity on you, If you so much as step on my territory without my permission. Of course, you can alway use fleets to invade the lands south and north of me.

No Promises! Just a game I'd like to get started. Still working on other ideas such as military combat, technological advancement, the starting year (I am thinking 1454) and the alliance system. Thanks!

This seems awfully complicated for a game.  That being said (1454, eh?), I'd like to be the House of Habsburg.  Automatic win!  Emperor beats Pope!

Just finished reading a book on the history of the Czechs (yes, that's my kind of reading material), and Emperor Ferdinand III seems just my kind of bombastic powerhungry leader.

Yeah, 1225 or so is better if you want a fair fight.

Interesting idea; I'd floated something similar based on the Holy Roman Empire, but I think this could work really well.

Maybe 1225 would be better... Or we could change it to "Greek City States"?

You could have a game where people colonise North America; that could tie in with a bit of an alternate histry - would there be a USA etc.

We had a game like that in 5th Grade. It was fun.
