This will be difficult since we can't poll preferences but we can at least get a good look the number of voters each will receive? This poll is for all registered Atlasian Voters.

SPC, Purple State, afleitch, and RonanBrandon will receive my vote. I'll probably fifth preference either Fritz or Franzl.

By the way, where has Franzl been lately? He hasn't posted in a while.

I will never understand why there are 5 seats and only two JCP candidates. How could progressives reconquer the Senate if we don't even have enough candidates to have a majority ??

Because you can't win five seats.

No, it has to do with how the preference math works. If we run too many candidates than we risk splitting votes to the point of not having any viable candidates.

The STV system is done precisely to avoid this threat by chosing the 5 candidates that are most representative of the electorate.

With three major parties, each party is going to at least get one of their candidates in. It's inevitable.

That means we could get 3 people elected if we try.

Representative of the electorate, not the JCP. It's next to impossible for one of the three major parties to win more than two seats in the current climate.

True, though if you fail you could endanger Marokai or Fritz's re-election bid. I think they are about the two best people the JCP could have in the Senate at this juncture.
