The Republican Convention has opened! Canidates that have not retained serious traction or support have been withdrawn. Therefore, we are left with these five canidates. You, the delegates, each have one vote. However, the vote is to be held secretly. Therefore, do not specify who you support, but only identify where you are from, and what kind of Republican you are. That should give us a small inkling of who you support, while not giving away who you choose.

The catch is that the leading contender must have the support of at least 60% of the delegates. Therefore, it is going to be repeatly narrowed down, and balloted, until this result is achieved.

Unless you are a Independent or Republican, don't vote.

Wel, I can't say my vote, though everyone knows who it is for. I am a conservative from Indiana.

And btw, it's Rudy Giuliani, not Rudi Guiliani

I am Conservative from North Carolina, though my politics more closely fit the Conservative "T" of Central Pennsylvania which I am from originally.

I generally support lower and flatter tax rates, less regulation but regulating where absolutely necessary(such as Investment banks), and free trade. I don't beleive in Global Warming but I still believe that we need to get off fossils fuels but in steps(First we get off forien oil in 10-15 years using domestic oil, coal, and Natural Gas and diversifying our energy usage[Natural Gas for Heating, electricity and Hydrogen for cars, Diesel for Trains, and Coal Liquification for Planes]; and 30-40 years getting off fossil fuels entirely using new technological developments like maybe Nuclear Fusion). I am strong supporter of increased investment in R&D to achieve this and other things such as partially restoring our Manufacturing sector, and keeping our strong lead in Health Care, military, and Aerospace technology. I would support increased funding for Education but only if Pay for Performance, and School Choice(Primarily Charter Schools but also vouchers on the local level) are also enacted. On health care I support covering the poor but not the way Obama is, I would also like to see a much broader effort to save money by encouraging competiton and tort reform. Lastly I think we need to deal with our exploding entitlement costs, and I don't think the current ideas being peddled by AARP such as raising taxes alone will do it. It will take that plus raising the retirement age as well as cutting benefits to get the program fixed and it will still only buy us a few years. I think younger people should be given a chance to invest a fraction of there money in Private Retirement Accounts similar to the ones used by members of congress.

I am also at the same time a Puritanical Social Conservative but I am not a wing-nut and I will support a wide range of Republicans even some RINOs if thats the best a state can offer. I am Pro-Life, Pro-Traditional Marriage(but opening up to Civil Unions), oppose Embryonic Stem Cell research, oppose the legalization of any drugs currently illegal, and I oppose the legalisation of Prostitution, and polygamy. I however do beleive in separation of church and state, however I don't take the same absolutist interpretation on that as the Supreme Court has. In terms of me personally I am a non-practicing Lutheran, probably could be considered Secular.

I beleive the best detterent to war is a strong US Military backing up a strong Diplomatic effort(essentially TR's speak softly but carry a big stick). I prefer to avoid foreign entangelements such as super Gov't structures like the UN, NATO, EU, and the North American Union. I believe that we should try and create a semi-permenent coalition of willing Nations to confront Terrorism, however I don't want this to end up like NATO did, a permenent entity.  I am strong believer in National Soverignty and thus protecting our borders and controlling our Immigration system is a must, however I am not a Nativist and so I support diverse immigration with the focus on the highly educated(to benefit our economy) and refuges(escaping tyrants like in Iran). This is a great country and all are welcome to come but we can't whole foriegn countries packing up and moving here like Mexico is. I beleive that English should be the National Language cause I think the first step to accepting each other is understanding each other and we have seen what has happened in multi-language countries. It took 100 years to shake of Segregation, I don't want to resegregate us based on language and culture.

I realise this is a little lengthy but labels are never a good description of me since I have so many diverse opinions on so many issues.

Smiley

Not only did Romney win, but Giuliani came in second and Huckabee came in last.  Perfect.
