He made himself look like a fool, and that is where his public life ends. He can't go further from there.

As some type of military advisor, sure - otherwise, no not really (I don't think he really wants to anyway).

He is a capable individual, but this last election shows he's willing to suspend his personal beliefs in favor of race.  That has discreditted him with both Democrats and Republicans and labeled him as an opportunist.  However, since he hasn't run for office, that creates a duality.  So, I think the proper question is, "Should someone appoint Colin Powell for a public office position?"

No. Unless by "public office" you mean "prison".

God bless Powell for his military service, but HELL NO

He is not a republican. And he's another liberal whining for attention. (Coughdggfezzyfestooncoughcoughgkh)

Used to like him, but anyone who crosses party lines to support someone of the same race is no idol of mine.  Although I do appreciate his military service.

I actually like Powell a great deal.  But, as a candidate for major political office, I don't think he is viable anymore.  He might have posed an interesting threat to Clinton in '96.  But, his support of the Iraq war in 2002-2003 alienated lots of Democrats and his support of Obama in 2008 alienated lots of Republicans, and he couldn't build a winning coalition around what's left for any major office.  I think he is much more effective in public life doing what he is doing now.

Suppose you're no fan of Zell Miller?
