Not nearly as disgusting as the how often do you pee/poop/barf/whatever threads in off topic.

Yeah, the survivor threads don't belong in the US General Discussion. The Forum Community or Off Topic board are more suitable.

Yes, this Survivor crap is contributing to the deterioration of this forum in general.  Problem is, the moderators don't seem to notice (or mind) it.  Perhaps someone could get them to ask Muckraker, EarlAW, and Hughento (and anyone else posting this crap where it doesn't belong) to quit it, or transfer their threads over to Off Topic instead.

World Leaders Survivor is not crap. Canadian Premiers is almost over.

The others are quite bad, though.

What's the Election and History Games board for if Survivor threads go in US General Discussion?

Good question.  Better yet, where is it?  Can you provide a link to it?  Perhaps that's the problem -it seems to lack visibility if it does indeed exist.

I don't get the distinction you both seem insistent on making.  They are all the same to me.

Uh, it's right between the Forum Community and Off-topic boards.

World Leaders Survivor has sparked interesting debate and discussion on world leaders, politics, and issues. A lot of people vote in it, partly because it's well organized.

As opposed to "US Democratic Primaries 2008" and the like which is just mindless "I hate Obama so I'll vote him off!!!1!1" stupidity. And 6 people vote in them.

If you don't like those threads, perfectly fine. Ignore them, don't post in them. But do not go around calling them crappy threads or asking them to end.

The problem is, they are crappy threads, and are clogging up the first page of the board.

Even if they have sparked worthwhile discussions (I'll take your word for it -I don't have the patience to find them to verify your words), they are still election games.  They don't belong where they are currently posted particularly when we have a board already dedicated to them which you and others have apparently chosen to ignore.

It's a little difficult to ignore them when they are practically forcing themselves on you, spamming boards where they don't belong, and burying worthwhile threads that are not Survivor spin-offs.

And besides, we already have a board for all this -put them there instead.  That is what it was created for.

I'm a little baffled by people being frustrated with certain threads.  Maybe that's cause I enjoy the survivor threads and am making some poll threads.  But really -- just don't open them if you know they will suck.  If you don't, you'll know it as soon as you open it and then you won't make that mistake again.

The main difference between World Leaders Survivor and those stupid threads is WLS uses only one thread per group and just updates it instead of making a new thread for each round. It's also about an interesting, expansive topic, not one we've had five bazillion polls on already that no one cares about anymore (like the 2004 Democratic nomination.), nor is there any need for that sort of thing to be done in survivor format.

I don't mind officepark's Senate or Governor ones as much, but he could at least keep them in one thread. Also I hate to say it but JSojourner's threads are becoming a bit of a nuisance too, I think he could at least do what's done with the Movie vs. Movie threads and lock the old ones once a new one is made.

Can someone please move these Survivor and Survivor-like threads over to the Election and History Games board?
