Haven't we already learned what a bad idea it is to have someone unready for the Presidency take office after the last 7 years?  Sure, Sarah Palin isn't the ideal candidate, but at least she's on the bottom of the ticket.

Listen you moderate, the reason Bush was such a disaster for most of us was because of his chosen ideology, not because of any 'unreadiness'.  Heck the man was one of the most successful presidents in history at implementing his policies, its just that the policies were nightmarish for most of us.  I'm so sick of this absurd line that Bush was in any way incompetent or incapable.  If only he had been!

Honestly, is there a single person on this planet who really believes that Sarah Palin is ready to be President?

Honestly, is there a single person on this planet, who hasn't drunk the Obama kool-aid,  who really believes that Barack Obama is ready to be President?

On the bright side it will be Joe Biden running the show the way Dick Cheney ran it the last 8 years.

It is going to be so funny come Oct 2nd when Gov. Palin makes Sen. Biden look like a fool.

LOL, she might draw attention to herself, but please explain to me how she could ever make Biden look like a fool?

Look how she made Sen. Obama look like a person with words but no actions last night, and she did it with a smile on her face.

that's your subjective opinion. I still don't understand how she's supposed to make Biden look like a "fool". Are you implying that she's more intelligent and competent than her rival? (Note we are talking about running mates here, and while I strongly believe that even Obama is more fit for the job than she is, that's not the topic here.)

Yes, I believe she is, and the proof is what she did last night. Even CNN which is biased toward the left said that. Sen. Biden will have a very hard time trying to win the debate.

I'm looking forward to it, that's all I'll say! Smiley LOL

Biden had the better speech on substance.

Palin had the better speech when it came to attack and smear.

They are just better at it that we are.

I'd be shocked if Palin's speech didn't draw more viewers than Biden's, FWIW.

palin had the better speech.  and i think she will 'win' the debate.  if only because expectations will be low and there is a decent chance biden will say something inappropriate.

in the end, palin will be the better choice.

but dukakis had the better choice in 1988.  didnt help much.

I tend to agree. I can't comprehend how anyone who dissaproved of Bush 2001-2007 can really vote for McCain. All indications are that he is Bush with even less judgment and more impulsiveness. I personally don't feel Obama is particularly fit to be President but I have no doubt in my mind that if elected, McCain would be one of the worst we ever had. Obama by virtue of being a mainstream Democrat at this point in time is likely at the least to be mediocre.

People don't realize we are a parliamentary system right now. Party matters more than person and has since the late 1990s. Those wasting time talking about experience or family are missing the plot, no matter how enlightened they hold themselves to be. If you like economic collapse, a foreign policy that creates enemies where none exist, and a bunch of rich kids with no experience running the federal bureaucracy into the ground to build resumes for law school, vote for McCain. If you want at least an effort at positive government, vote for Obama. McCain is not a real person anymore. He is completely controlled by those around him, and Weaver and Murphy, his best influences are gone. The man copies what his advisers tell him. In 2000 he had moderate ones, now he has crazy ones. He is also vulnerable to suck ups, even more so than than Bush. I really can not comprehend the McCain love and I voted for Bush in 2004.

Because I am sick of it being Gov. Palin vs Sen. Obama... Also if you don't the the VP pick matters then you are sadly wrong.

I am?

Which VP candidate has ever swung an election?

Let me ask you this, let say Sen. McCain picked Tom Ridge. Do you think the base of the Republican party would strongly back McCain like they are now?

The base of the Republican Party was already backing McCain before he made his VP pick. That is why they are called the base.

Picking a moderate like Ridge would have been a good way to tell the American people that he wasn't going to take marching orders from the Rush Limbaugh far-right wing of his party. The pick would have vouched for his maverick-ness. He would be seen in a more positive light by independents.

McCain was guarenteed 90% of the Republican vote regardless of who he picks. He needs help with moderates and independents.

Palin will not improve the % but will improve the number of republican voters. 90% of 10 millions is not 90% of 20 millions...
