Someone name me one issue McCain agrees with the GOP on.

abortion.

Now if Carter was who made the party what he didn't like, why remain a Democrat all the time since then? He says the party left him recently, but now it's obvious it was over 30 years ago, actually I'd say 56 years ago with ol' Strom.

now you could probably make an example with Lincoln Chaffee.

However, even if Chaffee is voting for Kerry (which he very well might be), he isn't screaming about how the party has left him and how his views are the true views of the party and how they need to get back to them and be just like the Democrats, ect. ect.

Jeffords came from a family of around 10 generations of Republicans. And he realized that he didn't fit in the party anymore, and he left. Now Zell needs to do the same.

Bill Clinton ran on tax cuts and welfare reform.

Real Republican Issues
--Closing the border
--Free trade (I'll take that)
--Actually reading the second amendment
--Recognition of God
--Taxes
--No 'Campaign Finance Reform' crap
--Abortion
--Kill the gay "marriage" joke
--No environmental wackoism

...Wait, I mean Democrat issues. Wink

Affirmative action - very important in principle, but this isn't really a big GOP partisan priority. Do you honestly support affirmative action?

I simply cannot understand these people who think that the Democrats should be conservatives.  Why can't we just accept the fact that the two parties have basically switched positions on the political spectrum and go with that?

I think they should quit taking the wrong side of every issue except drug legalization.

So... what, you want the Democratic Party to be exactly the same as the Republican Party?

If you don't agree with them, don't vote for them.  I fail to see how the Democrats need to change themselves.

I'm saying they're wrong on the issues. And when you're wrong, naturally, you should change. Not that that's going to happen, because they think the same way.

We shouldn't have to have bipolar parties.

Miller's over 70 years old, and he's been a Democrat all his life. He's never voted for a Republican. He spoke at the '92 convention for Bill Clinton, and bashed Bush's father.

Regardless of how much some Democrats want him to go away, this guy fits his label.

Party Support:  9% of votes in 2003.

If you're gonna keep throwing that up, why not put the rest?

party support:  40% in 2002
party support:  42% in 2001
party support:  25% in 2000 (with 100% Clinton support)

brtd:  quit bringing up zell's support of carter.

i supported reagan in the 80s.  now, in hindsight, i have some clear disagreements with some of the reagan policy.

but, id still support reagan over carter or mondale.

just because zell supported carter, doesnt mean he cant disagree withs ome of his policies.

however, on what issues would he support carter now, given his current voting record?

Carter was once considered a centrist.  Now he screams and howlers with the other ultra-libs.
