On the republican side, John McCain wins the nomination eaisly on the first ballot after having an easy road to the nomination after Super Tuesday and Romney dropping out. McCain selects Mark Sanford as his running mate and Sanford accepts. The remaining challenger, Mike Huckabee fully endorses the ticket and the party is unified.

On the democratic side, Hillary Clinton wins the nomination narrowly on the third ballot after a split convention on the first two ballots. Clinton wins the nomination and she selects Tom Vilsack as her running mate, Vilsack accepts. Obama relucantly endorses the ticket.

Which ticket would win? Discuss with maps.

Minnesota will not go GOP in 2008 unless there is a landslide!

I can not even see it going GOP in a landslide. This is the ONLY STATE who, twice, told Reagan to shove it.

Anyways, Clinton would probably win. I can't see any candidate who promises more war                         to win in 2008.

I think in that scenario...it may well occur. McCain is a strong candidate for the Michigan-Wisconsin-Minnesota region. I think Minnesota is more likely than Michigan.

Neither one is likely.  Vilsack is from Iowa; that should be more than enough to secure the Dairy Belt.

You're joking right?  Just because Vilsack is from Iowa doesn't mean he'll automatically secure all surrounding states for Hillary.  Hell he might not even lock Iowa up for her either.  This assumption that the VP candidate will swing an entire region to a candidate is, at best, asinine.

McCain would win but he would NOT take Minnesota. Try again.

This is nothing more than a Republican orgasm.  So you traded Minnesota for Pennsylvania..

Much more likely.

This election will not focus on pointless social hot button issues, but instead on real issues like health care, the economy (like raising taxes on the rich), education, and ending the war in Iraq.

When it comes to real issues, the Republicans lose every time.

My friend's dad put it perfectly last night (think big burly union guy who loves to hunt and fish)

"I like the Republicans on a lot of social issues, but I like the Democrats on economic and fiscal issues.  They don't screw over the working man.  At the end of the day, social issues don't put bread on the table."
