I'd much rather continue holding out hope that Feingold ends up on the Supreme Court.

there is  a theory that Obama as the young change candidate needs to pick someone young and not too tied into the Washington beltway mentality (leaving out Dodd and Biden).  Either a young governor, or someone like Webb who hasn't been in Washington long might fit the bill.  It's a risk but it's possible.  It's risky as well to add "experience" to the Change ticket.

Remember when people thought Clinton was crazy to pick Gore.  Why go with another southernor from a neighboring state?  but it worked.

How about Harold Ford, Jr.  [ducks]

For starters, not someone who has endorsed someone else in the paimary.  i.e. not Vilsack or Bayh.

Feingold, Obama's running mate, Obama is smart, therefore this will not happen.

Feingold, Supreme Court, when Kucinich wins a Dem primary.

I had an interesting thought.  Any chance of Vice President Bloomberg?

Biden... failing that Easley, Strickland, Bredensen, Schweitzer, Bayh and Nelson (Bill) would all fit (some more than others), it's a damn shame that Breaux went into lobbying coz frankly he'd have made an excellent veep for a candidate like Obama.

People seem to forget that JFK won by running on a conservative, strong national defense platform to allay the anti-Catholic bigotry of time.  While I'm not advocating Obama should run to the hard right, "moving back to the center" for the general election entails adopting some moderate-to-conservative views.

Liberal Democrats are going to have to brace themselves for Obama choosing a more moderate/centrist running mate, preferablly with executive experience (NO SENATORS!), preferably a caucasian male, preferably from the West preferably a non-liberal, perhaps with military/national defense experience.   Feingold, Hillary, Edwards, etc...will simply ensure a GOP victory in 2008 and won't get you anywhere with voters in Ohio, Missouri, Florida, etc
