Does #7 mean that masturbation or protected sex is murder? If so, I commit like a billion of murders a week.
No, because you don't conceive anything that way.

Option seven contends that the soul enters the human BEFORE conception.

Vote: None of the above.

Comments:

Option 2: It seems quite implausbile (although, I admit, not impossible) to me that, if a supreme deity exists, he would respond to prayer. In particular, if such a supreme deity is in fact omniscient, then he would know the true desires of every person even in the absence of prayer. He would then grant the desires of those who, in some sense, are deserving. But if prayer "works," then the very act of praying--the mere act of asking, nothing more--transforms an undeserving individual into a deserving one. This mode of proceeding seems to be highly arbitrary, especially for a deity.

Option 3: It has been well said that God did not create man in his own image, but that man created God in his own image.

Option 5: I simply do not see how the theory of evolution by natural selection explains life on earth. Any cogent explanation of life on earth would have to include some answer to the question: how did life begin? Certainly, the theory of evolution explains various aspects of life, but it simply does not address the most fundamental issue, namely the origin of life.

Option 8: Prophecy is unquestionably relevant to the everyday lives of many adherents of the Abrahamic religions. In an indirect but nevertheless substantial way, the beliefs of these people about various prophecies (particularly the eschatological ones) have played a significant role in shaping society.

I'm in a stage right now where I am questioning religion.

Good, good... come to the dark side. Smiley

Questioning religion does not necessarily mean you need to question the existence of a god at the same time.

What is the origin of life?

By "origin of life," I mean the process by which the first living organism was formed.

Option five. I don't feel competent to exactly date the beginnings of the development of what I call the "soul", but it'd be at least some weeks after conception. But during the first half of a pregnancy, obviously.

I wasn't asking for a definition, but for your own view on the subject Wink

People make universal negatives all the time.  Do you believe in aliens?  Or unicorns?  The principle is the same.

I have no idea what the origin of life was.

It is possible to communicate with dead people
No

Prayer can directly heal medical problems
No. Not directly anyway. But then I suppose nobody really believes prayer works directly, but rather indirectly, via God or whatever. Personally, I think there may be some sort of placebo effect or other phenomenon which may help, but these would also be indirect in nature.

God created man in His own image
No

Every living thing goes through a cycle of reincarnation
No

Life on earth can be explained by evolution through natural selection
Evolution can explain the development of life on Earth, but I don't think it explains the origin of life.

There will be a Second Coming of Jesus
No

Every human is given a soul at or before conception
No

Prophecy remains relevant to our everyday lives
Not to mine. To some people though because they make it so.

God does not exist
Don't know. Not sure it matters a great deal one way or the other.

What about communication with the dead?  You seem like a conservative Biblical believer, so what about the case when King Saul had the medium contact the dead spirit of Samuel?

#2 and #5 for sure. I think in many cases prayer acts as a placebo.
