The PG&D board is poorer without him.

I miss him and his post recommendations. He was a quality poster whose controversial takes on a lot of issues cost him that reputation. In some ways I think that Heatcharger is the new Abdullah.

There were RL things he mentioned on-forum and off it, but my guess is he simply got tired of contributing here and devolved into posting edgy memes before dropping off completely.

This is if anything an insult to Abdullah, who at least contributed solid stuff.

I don't think he ever recommended my earlier posts, but I do miss his running commentary on the decline of New York's population.

I'd like to think his feud with Ferguson97 and many of the iGens on LGBT issues was an attempt to psychologically disassociate himself from being a Leipverse member or power-poster.

FF- you, Xahar, Blairite, and TJ continue to be missed on here.

Shame that he left after his tempban. I liked his presence on the forum, and overall I enjoyed and learned from my interactions with him. I am sure that he will do big things in life.

I was amazed at the juxtaposition of his high-effort, genuinely interesting posts on the demographics board and his childish behavior virtually everywhere else.

I don't think he ever recommended my earlier posts, but I do miss his running commentary on the decline of New York's population.

He was extremely invested in the demographic dominance of the (non-California) Sunbelt and the demographic doom of the Northeast, Midwest, and California, almost unreasonably.

Of course. He was one of Atlas' best posters and his absence (ban? can't remember) is a tragedy.

Would be weird if he wasn't, no? Texas having twice as many people in 2020 as 1990 and NY 10% more is a huge shift. Arguably, it's a reversal of the historic trend in American history of the North becoming relatively more built up and developed -- this is less true for Texas specifically, but it is hugely underrated that while Michigan had 2x the population of Georgia in 1950, there are now more Georgians than Michiganders, for American politics, culture, history, etc.

And of course, it also reflects the success of conservative policies, as people vote with their feet for the South and West at the expense of the Northeast and Midwest, despite those regions' historic greater economic development.

I think you misunderstand -- I meant that he was very insistent on the endless continuation of that pattern based on dramatic ACS estimates, even though the 2020 census results indicated that those ACS results might be inaccurate, since the same pattern happened last decade and then was contradicted by the 2020 census.

(I do suspect that there was a non-negligible undercount in much of the sunbelt, in part due to the specter of a citzenship question, but that doesn't negate the Census Bureau underestimating places like NY or MN).

I'm agnostic on the question of whether the current batch of ACS estimates are replicating the same error as last decade's -- in part because I don't have the statistical literacy to say one way or another -- but his insistence on the total collapse of NY/CA etc. felt a little wishcasty to me since it ignored that other possibility.
