Could easily be one of RFK Jr.'s best counties in the country.

As for the outcome, lean Trump.

I always knew how weird this place was, but never knew it was THAT close in both 2020 and 2016. Damn.

I think one think keeping the County closer than other seemingly simillar IA counties is the University in Fairfield and decent college attainment in a few Fairfield precincts. However, because it's a university it didn't suffer the turnout dropoff we saw at many colleges in 2020 due to COVID.

One other thing about Fairfield is it's apparently home to quite a lot of smaller startups, which may also explain it's more liberal lean compared to comparable cities.

In 2022, Dems did pretty well in the County with quite a few Dems winning it and a few keeping it close despite losing statewide by larger margins than Biden 2020. However, looking at past election results this seems like a place where Dems have historically held up well in midterms for whatever reason.

Also apparently Fairfield and Maharishi Vedic City were featured on "America's Most Unusual Town" lol.

I'd say Lean Trump but def on the weaker end - Biden could win it but I wouldn't read much into a Biden win of the County.
