Context:

Ignoring everything else in the tweet (I would like it if this thread doesn’t get derailed by discussions of a fictional character’s gender identity), do you agree with this specific sentiment?

I still need to watch Across the Spider-Verse, but forget about cops; nobody, period, is that much of an ally unless they have a trans family member (or close friend). In this case, it would be the cop dad supporting his daughter. And also, at the risk of derailing the thread, knowing that first pic ("Protect Trans Kids") is in Gwen's room doesn't hurt the case.

I honestly do think that's a fair assumption to make. Wearing a supportive t-shirt or hanging a poster on your wall is one thing, but for a police officer to wear it on his uniform right next to his badge is another matter entirely. That vocal demonstration of allyship, I think, is very likely to come from a very personal place.

As for the theory that Gwen is trans, I think that's a fair interpretation. Marvel has never shied away from putting political messages in their comics (the X-Men were an allegory for the Civil Rights movement, Captain America was deliberately designed having Aryan features to mock the Nazis), and this is honestly extremely subtle by their standards. (You could make the argument that those colors could mean something else entirely in Gwen's dimension, and while those colors are associated with her costume... come on, it was clearly a deliberate choice to put them in a tricolor flag like that.)

Is it an allegory for trans right; quite likely, is Gwen Stacy trans gender; not in a million years. There’s no way Sony is going to risk their money on making anything more than a subtle allegory.

In no way would a cop ever be allowed to pin the trans flag on his actual uniform, regardless of having a trans daughter. Earlier in the movie, you can see the bars in that specific place - it's his decorations from past promotions. For this scene, they chose to illuminate them in those colors. Why? It's an odd choice and certainly seemed to imply...something, but it's not as simple as the Twitter OP is portraying it as.

Having seen the movie, it was not in my view a trans allegory. Honestly for how multicultural the movie was and its honest focus on it, it kept the issues unusually down to earth. Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy dealt with personal issues on a personal level for the first half of the movie, there was no easy answers or solutions.
