Not emo but kind of .. I had a punk phase in the beginning of 9th grade. I am a musician so it's not that surprising but I was only into punk for maybe about 6 months to a year.

Not really a phase if you currently listen to emo.

Nope. Emo was kind of a joke when it was at its peak relevance around the time I was in middle school or so.

Huh

It's more relevant today than it was when you were in middle school.

I'm gonna vote yes, but really it was just that I was in middle school for Peak Emo and it just proliferated culture at the time. I had long hair and wore black clothes and skinny jeans a lot, but that's about it. Sure, I listened to some of the musicians that made it mainstream, but they were never really my personal favorites unless you count early Green Day as emo.

In other words
Emo was kind of a joke when it was at its peak relevance around the time I was in middle school or so.

And I guess I played along with the joke. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Emo isn't a "phase" for the vast majority of its fanbase by the way. Like when I saw Sunny Day Real Estate twice at fests last fall, the median age in the crowd both times was about 35. (Which should surprise absolutely no one familiar with SDRE of course.)

No. My high school did have an emo clique when I started, but after key members graduated with the Class of 2013 that stopped being a thing.

Huh

It's more relevant today than it was when you were in middle school.

Is it? I can see it having some nostalgia at this point now that many of its fans are adults, but that's news to me.

Of course and posted on my phone the Ds I like for 24 until this silly documents scandal and there is no blanket exoneration because we haven't heard from FBI yet we failed twice even without the Documents scandal a Filibuster proof Trifecta

They said on Hannity the real news that a Grand Jury need to be empanel for this Document, Ds want an exhoneration so they can move onto 24 it doesn't work that way

MSNBC does report on the news its like Inside Politics on Judy Woodruff they want to present the best case scenario for Ds just like on Eday 22 Rachel Maddow even though Barnes, Ryan and Beasley and Demings and Franken were losing she said she hoped the fine back and Fox Jews said they're Done

I was never an emo kid, but there were some emo songs that were mainstream enough that I really enjoyed listening to them. Welcome to the Black Parade, for example. Funny thing, at the time they did not stand out to me as emo. Guess that just says something about how mainstream those songs were during that era.

That's because they weren't and Welcome to the Black Parade has nothing to do with emo. It doesn't even have the vague influences from emo some of MCR's early stuff does.

As a crypto-constructivist, I think if you have a critical mass of people who think everything MCR is emo, it's the definition of emo that has to change, not the culture's perception of it. Tongue
