Also, the only church in South Georgia. I don't think it is properly used anymore. The island only has 20 inhabitants due to the harsh climate. The last pastor left in 1914.

The country of Georgia was a really pleasant surprise to me. The mountains and landscape of Trinity Church were some of the most breathtaking I've seen. I'm sure the US state has beautiful landmarks as well, but I can't speak personally to it as I've never been there.

Above compares the climate of the state capital, the national capital, and the empty port. I would rate the nation as having the best climate of all 3 places.

It could only be the country. Unlike the Falklands, I don't think South Georgia ever had a permanent British settlement. Not enough room for sheep between the glaciers and mountains. The population is listed as 3 (summer). You can get legally married at the church because the temporary population are government employees at the museum. The church was at a whaling station for Norwegians, thus during its brief life as an active parish it was Church of Norway, then transferred to the Church of England a century later. Perhaps they overestimated the viability of the whaling industry through the 20th century.
