With virtually no difference between the two candidates ideologically, that election was basically just a referendum on who you wanted to control the Senate.

Republicans didn't like Chafee but wanted to keep the Senate so they sucked it up and voted for him.

Democrats liked Chafee but wanted the Senate, so we voted Whitehouse.

Actually the exit polls seem to indicate otherwise:

HOW CHAFEE IS HANDLING HIS JOB TOTAL Chafee  Whitehouse
Strongly Approve (18%) 82% 18%
Somewhat Approve (45%) 60% 40%
Somewhat Disapprove (26%) 15% 85%
Strongly Disapprove (10%) 4% 96%

BS.  Nobody with your spelling, grammar and coherency skills could have a GPA like that.  (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that your school actually issues that score in the first place.)

Joe, English is only one subject and I had a 92.8 in Honors English 200 (A-=3.7+.5(for Honors class)=4.2) b/c if I hand in an English essay I'm going to proofread it.  I'll scan my report card and post it if you don't believe me.

Why?  I think its great if I'm taking a harder class (which at our school isn't really the case b/c of the teachers) I should get more credit

Because its basically grade inflation. You even admit yourself that the classes aren't that hard just a bit more challenging than normal classes. Just a way for high schools to pump up people's transcripts so they can get them into good colleges and not have to hear from the parents.

Frankly son, if they let you graduate, (especially with a 4.2)  that school should be discredited.

Your grammar/spelling wasn't the target of my criticism.

Of Republicans in the 21st century, the only one I would consider a freedom fighter.

Oh, him and ex-Rep. Connie Morella (MD).

Jeffords was a Republican for part of the 21st century.

HP...yawn, i know jon stewart wants us to coddle the lindsey grahams, john mccains, lincoln chaffees, and john danforths of the world, but they give me little reason til they actively oppose the union-busting of the past decades and endorse a comprehensive universal healthcare system...being a NARAL slave means little in my book; instead of phoney moderation and bipartisanship, i'd rather have two diametrically opposed parties that fight for what they believe and not under auspices of abstract concepts (freedom, family values, sanctity, etc., etc., etc.) and circuitous economic theories (laffer curve, trickle-down).

Sad to see him go, but the balance of Power is too important.  Freedom Fighter.
