I'd be absolutely shocked if Hogan managed to break 45% against either Van Hollen, or someone else if the seat is vacant. I wouldn't even be surprised if he failed to break 40%.

If Michael Steele is the nominee and gets Traction I'm the Gov race, so can Hogan but Van Hollen isn't Cardin, he has a relationship with Afro Americans community unlike Cardin, whom I haven't endorsed like Markey, he disappears like Markey, but Market is bad he hasn't done anything of substance since beating Kennedy.

Kennedy should have been elected to Senate, we haven't seen Markey and AOC saved Markey bacon or he would have LOST

Nothing to see here. Safe D with or without Hogan for obvious reasons: national elections (such as senator) are much more polarized than state elections (such as governor). And also there's the fact that it's unlikely Hogan will make it past a Republican primary. Someone like, say, Andy Harris is much likelier to win (not that he'd give up a safe seat to run for a race in which he'd certainly lose) the nomination.

Hogan NOT running

Not surprising. I never actually thought he would.

I actually thought there's a good change he springs for it since he's term limited anyway, but oh well.

Would he have survived the GQP primary anyway since he's committed the cardinal sin of criticizing Dear Leader? Not sure how kooky the Maryland GQP is but must assume that they're just as deplorable and fascist as the rest of the cult.

Yeah, I think he will run for the Republican nomination in 2024. And get nowhere, of course.

Hogan obviously learned from what happened to Bayh, Strickland, Bredesen, and Bullock, and wisely bowed out. Van Hollen will face no substantive opposition and will be reelected with the >60% of the vote that Maryland Democrats typically receive.
