The United States of America is one of the most developed nations on earth and is a shining beacon of hope and freedom for those around the world. Ranking near the top in press and personal freedom rankings the nation is the world's longest-lasting democracy and has among the best health care systems in the world along with high life expectancies and low obesity rates.
The government is of the federal constitutional republic model, with a strong executive and two houses of congress (legislature) in the House and the Senate. The third branch is the judicial. The US is also notable for being a safe haven for getting an abortion or hosting a same-sex wedding due to the long time acceptance of both practices.
The government's policy changes frequently, although the country has a strong Nordic model inspired welfare state, albeit somewhat less comprehensive. The nation is the biggest creditor in the world, and has a low amount of debt despite the recent pandemic (which killed over 5,000) due to the sound fiscal policies of the conservative President Kirsten Gillibrand.

Confederation of Southern America
Population: 160,000,000 -- Geography: Old CSA plus NM/KY/WV minus the northern third of Virginia and the northernmost four and easternmost two counties in WV. -- Demographics:
Race: 64% White 30% Black 6% Latino
Religion: 96% Christian (official religion) 3% Atheist/Agnostic 1% Jewish -- GDP: $4.6 Billion (#4) GDP/C: $28,750 (#43) HDI: .804 (#63) GINI: 51.0 -- Press Freedom: Noticeable Problems (#71) Personal Freedom: Satisfactory (#59) -- Abortion: Illegal unless deathly danger to the mother. Gay Marriage: Prohibited along with civil unions by 1993 constitutional amendment. Slavery: Banned since 1930 in some states, prohibited since 1962 nationwide. --
The Confederation of Gilead Southern America is a nation in North America, bordered exclusively by the United States of America. The Confederation is one of the most controversial nations on earth, having only banned slavery completely in 1962 (fourty years after every other western hemisphere nation). The country was formed following the 1787 split between the US and the CSA following the constitutional convention walkout.
The nation was a constitutional monarchy until 1920, when a referendum abolished it.
The country is often criticized in comparison to its highly developed and multicultural northern neighbor, but is praised by some for the official religion (the Southern Baptist brand) and strong penalties against abortion, with doctors and women who have abortions being sentenced to prison terms and hefty fines (the death penalty for providing abortions was banned in 1998, but the last execution for either was way back in 1991).
This is also a point of criticism as well as many around the world (particularly in the US) point out how hypocritical it is for a nation 'founded on christian values' to routinely ignore key tenets of the religion, like helping the sick (only developed nation without guaranteed health care) or the poor (no government subsidies for food or medical treatment) as the government says churchs should handle it (which is often mocked on the American TV show Last Week in Hell with John Oliver, which often points out the private jets owned by pastors who preach at government-subsidized churches.
