Biden not winning by at least 6.

Barring huge demographic gain or collapse, it's an R+6 equilibrium.

North Carolina's rural areas aren't "maxed out" for the Republicans, and it appears that Biden, while improving in the urban and suburban regions of the state, didn't make the amount of gains necessary to offset Trump's gains elsewhere. And he slid in the Black Belt (Trump flipped Scotland County), while Trump made notable gains in the notorious Robeson County.

Growing exurbs and strong rural support. NC is a turnout state, and the rural areas came out in droves for Trump. The Triangle isn't yet large enough in population to offset the rest of the state.

3 and 6, mainly. 1, 2 and 8 to a lesser extent.

NC has been a frustrating state, it seems permanently stuck at R+6. There was lots of hope that the Research Triangle and Charlotte would lead to NC becoming another VA.
