If someone you want to vote for is not up there vote for write in option and
write in as many people as you want, but the total votes for choices on the list plus write ins should not exceed 14, if you want to be fair.
I limited it to 14 votes to get an idea of who is the most popular on the above list.
If you consider yourself as basically conservative you can vote. If not chose the last option, which is what I have to do.

Feel free to change your votes at any time.

It is. Except for the last option, of course.

I also didn't mean to imply that everyone on the list is conservative either,
only that conservatives might admire anyone or everyone on the list.

I know that, but I was asking why he hoped that you didn't vote in this poll as a conservative, when you have never even claimed to be one.

Top 14:

1. Ronald Reagan (probably the greatest person ever)
2. Tom Tancredo (immigration is the key and strong social conservative)
3. George W. Bush (stands up for what he believes in)
4. Rush Limbaugh (puts humor in politics)
5. Ann Coulter (same as Limbaugh)
6. Dick Cheney (scares people into voting GOP, and just a cold-hearted bas**rd)
7. Richard Nixon (admitted wrong-doing, anti-Bill Clinton)
8. Write-in for Santorum (promotes strong values)
9. Barry Goldwater (really shifted party to the right)
10. Mike Huckabee (southern charm, conservatism)
11. Mike Pence (strong voice for House GOP)
12. Jeb Bush (like his brother)
13. George Allen (tells it like it is)
14. Arnold (not conservative, not calls liberals girly-men and called their convention "true-lies", he really helps boost appeal to moderates, modertaes not Democrats calling themselves Republicans.)

I would vote for almost all of them though

Who would you consider a Conservative? What are the criteria needed to be, in your mind Chinese Character Guy, a "conservative"?

Wallace (last third party candidate to get an electoral vote)

No, that would be John Hospers, the Libertarian candidate in 1972.  Although Ronald Reagan, Lloyd Bentsen and John Edwards all scored their own electoral votes as well in 1976, 1988 and 2004 respectively.

I'm not a conservative, but Gerald Ford is a massive freedom fighter. Richard Nixon is also vastly underrated.

My definition does not matter.
That is up to each person to determine for themselves.
Possible issues, however, would be:
War and peace, economics, crime and punishment,
the Supreme Court, social  issues (gay rights, abortion).
the second ammendment.
Religion is also a definitive issue in the minds of most
conservatives.
One simple way to define conservative is someone who
takes the opposite side of an issue from a liberal.
If there were a litmus test to define liberal you could
define conservative.
However, I don't think either one is easy to define.
Many people define the terms primarily as to religion.
Others think 'it's the economy stupid'.
For example, I  think Bob Casey is a conservative.
Many people would argue with that.

Wallace was the last third party candiate to get a so called 'faithful' electoral vote. The next election (08) will be the 40th anniversary and it is likely to be a while before it happens again. It could in 2008, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

True, true.  Ironically, Wallace also won an 'unfaithful' electoral vote too, from somebody from NC who was pledged to Nixon.

I really love most of them up there--picking 14 was hard.  I'm surprised Hagel was on there--but hey, he's our next President, so get used to hearing his name.

Inks, I just found a way to agree w/Conan, so now I must disagree w/u.  Chuck Hagel is not the next president.
