I don't think the bill is as terrible as most of you say, even though it's debatable that legislation is the best way to achieve its noble goals (on the other hand, why not?). On the question should kids sections be gender neutral, my answer is that ideally they should be.

I'm not for the abolition of gender myself, but I strongly oppose gender stereotypes. On the other hand, I see there exists a serious problem concerning the hyper-sexualization of children through items such as toys and clothing and aggressive marketing. Don't you feel appalled by the vision of 8 year girls, dressed and made up like Barbies, trying to imitate 18 year old pop stars whom act in sexually explicit ways? What do you think about the explicitly violent toys targeted to young boys? Don't you think your children would grow healthier with less aggressiveness and with more relaxed gender rules, in order that children of both sexes can exchange their toys without being ridiculed by others?

The problem I'm outlining is not easy to address or legislate, but anyway it seems to me gender neutral sections in stores is a step in the right direction
