There hasn't been a combat veteran president since Bush Sr, and none of the 2012 hopefuls have experience in the military other than Paul, who was non-combat.

So when will it happen again?

Wouldn't Ron Paul count? Or do field medics not count. He served in Korea if I remember correctly

Jackson, Fillmore, Lincoln, Johnson (both), Garfield, Truman, Nixon.

Kennedy (2nd richest president after Washington) and Bush 41 were both wealthy combat vets.

not really true. Most poors wouldn't meet the educational or health requirements to join the military. Furthermore, saying "poors don't become president" simply isn't true: Clinton, Obama, Reagan, and LBJ all came from humble origins.
