While Monica Lewinksy is used mostly as a punchline today, let's remember what truly happened.  Bill Clinton admitted to an inappropriate sexual relationship with a college-aged subordinate while he was President of the United States.  That characterization is unique to Clinton in the presidency's 230+ year history.  Even absent the Lewsinky scandal's implications for the Starr investigation or Paula Jones civil case, Clinton's actions represent a disregard for the solemnity of his office and a deep personal failing.  That such a tragedy played out on the national stage should be an embarrassment to every American.  None of y 'all can recognize today thanks to "2020 brain," but Clinton's personal foibles are a major contributing cause to the "celebrification" and debasing of the presidency that ultimately led to Donald Trump.

An economic boom unlike anything in the history of the human race, crime rates were down, his party gained in Congress in the midterm elections and in the Bush/Gore election (a President’s party had never gained in midterms since FDR’s first term), and Gingrich was toppled. The first term had the Waco Siege, the Hillarycare debacle, the crime bill, the Republican Revolution of 1994, a government shutdown, the V-Chip, telecom deregulation, welfare reform, rhetoric about curfews and school uniforms, a failure to gain in Congress while getting re-elected and a failure to topple Gingrich.
