I feel that some people would claim that the majority of American voters are racist. Well, if that's true, then Democrats definitely need at least some racist voters to win.

With that said, I do not care through which route Democrats win, but I feel that if we reach the point where people with high socioeconomic status very consistently vote centre-left and vice versa, there will be (bad) consequences. Some of you may argue that that point has already arrived, to be honest.

That's what the Democratic autopsy report in January will say. That's basically what Howard Dean said in 2005 with his 50 states strategy. It worked until they started voting with Republicans and got their asses beat by Republicans in 2010 anyways.

It's not a question of autopsy report, if one believes that the majority of American voters are racist, then mathematically every party that wants to win must be voted by at least some racists, whether the party likes it or not.
(to be clear I don't believe that the majority of American voters are racist)

Make no mistake, if you find this less classless or insecure than some Republican journalist traveling to a poor Black neighborhood in rural Mississippi and broadcasting to the internet how undereducated, inarticulate and ignorant of *polite society* its residents are - all in an attempt to make said journalist feel superior because these undesirables are on the *other team* - the problem lies with you and the type of person you really want to be at the end of the day.

No one is saying that Democrats should appeal to racists.  If you think that most rural voters are racists you need to stop living in a bubble.

Isn't that the whole point of this social unrest?  Finally getting more people to realize that racism penetrates all facets of society, often institutionally, and that ABSOLUTELY includes nearly monolothically Democratic urban neighborhoods?  I have met plenty of "racist hicks" in my life, and yes - they're racist.  Guess what?  So are A LOT of reliably Democratic voters I have met in Chicago, regardless of whether or not they talk a big game, and I have met plenty of "hicks" who are ten times less prejudiced than these city dwellers.  We all have racial biases, and desperately pointing out how much MORE racist certain people are to make yourself feel better is counterproductive to the current struggle faced by minorities in this country.

Hope this story about a small town in SmythCounty, Virginia finds IceSpear when he comes out of hibernation
Remember that Some people would rather have these areas be the Democratic base, than the vote rich suburbs of TX and GA.

How about neither?
Why?

A party that is supposed to be center-left should not base it's existence around voters who favor maintaining income inequality because they benefit from it; but also because Sun Belt suburbs favor a hawkish foreign policy because defense pork benefits the region so much. See Biden play the "tough on defense" card over and over has been very unfortunate.

What's your logic? A majority of the (very different electorate) in Plano voting for W 20 years ago?
