Alright I could actually get behind all the "save the climate" stuff if it means the NIMBYs could all get deported or whatever and people could actually start doing what they want with their land instead of zoning laws and stupid neighbors trying to prevent people from building whatever the hell they want.

Like if someone buys the land next to ur house and wants to build a petrochemical plant or mile high all residential skyscraper why should u be able to tell them what to do with their land? it's not urs so that's just like, collectivist communism man.

I agree. Not your property.

That said, actually shipping them to Gitmo sounds like a violation of due process.

Dont buy property subject to zoning restrictions if you dont want to be subject to zoning restrictions. You take the property subject to existing restrictions in place at the time of purchase. Thats factored into the value of the property. Its hard to cry foul about a restriction that was known about prior to purchase. Thats like signing a contract then whining about how something in the contract you knowingly signed is being enforced. Not everywhere has strict zoning. If you don't like your local zoning and cant get an ordinance change, move. Let the market decide.

How is allowing someone to build a petrochemical plant next door going to help save the climate?

Ok, would you mind someone opening a huge smelly pig farm next to your house?

Your property is suddenly worth 0, and you're stuck with the mortgage, and the smell of pig sh**t in your nose.

I assume you would care very much if your 500k house was suddenly worthless.

A 500K house isn’t normal in most of the South, but okay.
