A game with some highly Divergent views among people who've tried it. Its learning curve, even after watching tutorials on YouTube, is so steep it's practically inverse. I've played for close to a hundred hours now and I still don't quite have the hang of mining or combat. The latter I mean I can eventually possibly win a fight that turns into a forever slugfest to knock the other party Shields down and then do a tiny bit of damage before their Shields come back online, and when I finally get them down anywhere near destruction level they simply do a frame shift drive to another galaxy.
That said, the game is perhaps the most engaging grinder I've ever played. I haven't even scratched the surface on exploring much of the mega mega mega mega universe they have to explore, nor barely tipped my toes into Galactic politics.
It is challenging as Frick to learn, let alone play. Oh, and the game continues on when you turn it off. If you have outstanding missions the time will run out on them while you do things like go to work for a day or two. If you put the game on pause, your ship continues doing what it was, which could include having driven thousands of light years past your destination if you went away for an hour to do something. That's vicious!
Still, it's challenges so cool that the best I can describe it is like coming back to that relationship you know you really need to get out of, but it's just so awesome when it works that you keep coming back. A weird analogy I know, but maybe some other players get it?
Share your opinion. If you haven't bought the game, do so.
