The recent revelation has opened up a whole new bag of worms. What a scoop for world net daily.

Harriet Miers gave $1,000 to Mary Landrieu - who wanted to punch the president and is taking alot of heat from the right as she is a democrat from Louisiana. Rush Limbaugh called her one of the closet liberals that wants to destroy America a few weeks back.

Harriet Miers gave money to Hillary- the woman that the republicans have attacked for 15 years.

However, democrats have a reason why they will vote no. Ken Salazar has already started asking questions about what dobson knows. Dobson told his listeners that 'if you knew what i knew, you would be happy with the nomination of miers' which salazar believes dobson should tell the senate of what he knows but cannot say.

Miers will not be confirmed. Brownback wants to be president but he needs something that can take on guiliaini, mccain and allen and he will vote against her. Lott, who has issues woith this administration will unite with Brownback and the rest of the conservatives (sessions, allard etc) will oppose her. this could be a coalition of liberals and conservatives with a few moderates.

She will not be confirmed and the vote if it gets that far will be around 55-45

Yes, they would have another choice, but yes, she will be confirmed.

It puts them in an uncomfortable position, but it is OK for them to vote no.  Judges should not accept or give favors for money, and as she is now nominated to be a judge, she shouldn't expect any votes because of money she gave.

Landrieu isn't bound to voting no because she isn't running for president.  Hillary is so she'll probably vote yes.

Sure they have  a choice.

Senators are not required to quid pro quo for every contribution they get  - in fact they don't even have a moral obligation to do so.   Their main obligation is to carry out the will of the voters who elected them, and to vote on legislation in a manner that they consider in the best interests of the United States.   Whether it would be a politially savvy move for them to do so or not is a more complex question.

My guess is that Mary will vote for, and Hillary against; and that the nomination will pass.
