The assumption that Beltway Republicans like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are moderates acting in good faith who want to share power is the fatal flaw of Establishment Democrats. The only worse thing is that they refuse to learn the lesson no matter how many times they're outmaneuvered and proven wrong.

Obviously the media loves corporate-friendly politicians of either major party. These tend to be Republicans but there are plenty of Democrats who fall in that category as well.
