I also keep in mind many of the horrific things that were said by President Obama, much of it blatantly racist.
Do you mean horrific things said about President Obama?

Yes, this is what I meant. Typos are extremely aggravating.

Trump and the office of President are two separate things. He behaves far too erratic and disrespectful to be viewed respectfully. He is the President, but that doesn't mean he's a respectable person.

1) Trump and his supporters says worse things on a daily, often hourly basis.

2) The Presidency is not some sacred religion.

I've watched De Niro for years and have never seen him this animated in a non-film setting.

Secondly, throwing an F-Bomb at the President of the United States is not something to be proud of. He is our leader. You have to respect the office.
No, f**k the office. POTUS is an elected official, not a monarch. Respect the man, not the office.

I don’t have the energy to care. We’ll get another news cycle about he-said, he-tweeted, more culture war hot-takery. America would be much better off if we paid less attention to what actors said when they weren’t acting, even ones who I personally admire like Robert De Niro. Seriously if we weren’t so celebrity obsessed Trump wouldn’t have happened.
that's true.i mean it feels weird to me when people make these things political even when i agree with them..i'm reminded of that michael moore rant in 2003.but ultimately it doesn't really matter much.it's just another awards show

Michael Moore's 'rant' as you call it, was to refer to the Iraq War (which was the subject of the movie that he made that won him the Academy Award) as a 'fake war,'  meaning that all the rationales for the war were 'fake.'  On that score, Michel Moore has been shown to be completely correct.

I love it, but honestly this is doing the trump-opposition no favors. Was not a good visual when all of Hollywood started applauding him.

Hollywood? It was the Tony Awards. Try Broadway.

I think these concerns are silly myself.  Trump supporters get OUTRAGED! at everything and don't even need anything real to get OUTRAGED!  They believe everything they're told.  Look at this nonsense about MS-13 over which they've completely bought the myth.

This, though obviously I have little respect for the man. But the first part 100%

I'm tired of this narrative that we have to tip toe around their feelings or else they'll vote Trump again. Like it's being held over our heads. They will vote for him no matter what anyone says. Fck him and his supporters.

I know he’s an old man but I think De Niro needs to realise that he’s not actually Vito Corleone or Al Capone in real life.

De Niro is not either of those people. Trump is. Just dumber.

1. Of course it was the Tonys and they take place on Broadway yada yada. I was referring to the "Hollywood" class of celebrities that always attend these ceremonies. Correct me if I'm wrong but Robert De Niro himself hasn't appeared on stage in 30 years. No one would say he is part of Broadway as opposed to Hollywood...

2. As far as "hurting feelings", of course I don't give a s*** about anyone who voted for trump. I'd love to walk up to all 62,000,000 people that voted for him and say "f*** you." But the reality is that in order to win in 2020, we need some people who voted for him in MI, WI, PA, etc. to vote Democratic. All I am saying is that this is the type of visual that Fox News will use to continue their brainwashing. "You see the elite left still doesn't get it. They are saying 'f*** you' to our president, to your president, to America." That type of garbage has worked for Fox in the past, and it will likely work in the future. We can feel free to vent our frustrations, but we aren't going to win elections merely by saying "f*** trump."

This scene was cringeworthy. Ovations for just saying " Trump"? De Niro's speech looks pretty silly for me.
