Will Trump actually save coal jobs, or will he also put them out of business by not actually helping them?

Trump's budget would eliminate funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission. This includes the power program that would help coal country.

He could save the coal industry, but he won't save the miners.

Yeah, even if Trump 'tries' to help them, I would expect total coal employment to diminish over the 4 years of his presidency.  They got screwed by math long before Obama took office.

Time will put coal miners out of business, and it is nobody's fault/everybody's fault.

Some technology has been outdated, as has some industries. Coal in the future will largely be seen in Museums.

He might help the industry hobble along for a few more years, but ultimately coal - especially Appalachian coal - is doomed.
