Good (right-winger, though I'm starting to wonder if this categorization truly still fits me) because for all its negative aspects it has still reduced the number of uninsured. Civilized countries have universal healthcare affordable for everyone; there is no reason for a country as affluent as the U.S. not to have it.

The best thing it did is legitimize the concept of health care as a right amongst Americans of all political persuasions.

A little early to say this definitively, but tentatively speaking this is what I came here to say.

Good (Democrat; somewhat left wing) - The ACA allowed people such as myself and my family to get insurance, our monthly bill would have been $946 a month for our family and on our income, that simply wasn't going to happen, but the subsidies under the law allowed us to essentially pay nothing for our health care which is something we desperately needed.

This bill also made sure people who had pre-existing conditions could get health insurance and ESPECIALLY women who were unfairly targeted by that. It allows people like me to stay on the family plan until I am 26 which helps me in the long run as I financially cannot get health insurance on my own and I am sure that is the same for many college age people.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Eventually, this country will get universal healthcare.

The best thing it did is legitimize the concept of health care as a right amongst Americans of all political persuasions. Even Trump said he wants to repeal and replace when all the GOP wanted to do was repeal. At this point, there is no going back and a repeal of ACA would only strengthen the idea of a truly universal health care system.

This, and it proved that it was possible to enact health care reform. After 65 years, it was starting to look like the American political system was incapable of reforming it.
