Too many Americans seem to be trapped inside a social and political bubble, sheltering themselves from views that they dislike unless they can attack or ridicule them (such as on Atlas). I don't think this does much good for us as individuals, as voters, or as members of a diverse society. It feels good to always read those with whom you agree, no doubt about that. But reading the views of those with whom you disagree can be a worthy endeavor as it may open your mind to new perspectives or help sharpen your arguments in defense of your on views. Because of that, I've decided to diversify my sources of news to include one news site from each major political background: socialist, liberal, moderate/centrist, conservative, and libertarian.

What do you think of the five websites I've decided to frequent? What are some news sites you frequently use? Do you try to break out of your bubble (assuming you're in one)?

All of those are pretty good for what they are. Those are pretty much my sources too, along with the BBC and Asahi Shimbun for international news and the less-Trumpy parts of AmCon. And Atlas Forum, naturally. Vox on the mainstream left and the Weekly Standard on the mainstream right sometimes have good stuff, too, but I don't really seek them out for their own sake.

What is the Atlantic considered?

I read them a fair bit, just because there in depth essays tend to be some of the best around (My President was black was a brilliant one on Obama)

The last three are good. The Atlantic is great.

Reuters, AP, and the Moderate Trio of CNN/MSNBC(Scarborough, Greta, and Kelly) are the best news sources. The Boston Globe, The Daily Beast, Newsweek, and The Plain Dealer are newspapers I would recommend.

Each and every one obvious HMs except Reason. The Atlantic is run by a band of disgusting pro-Hillary neocons. It's garbage. Mother Jones and National Review aren't much different.

Here are the sources I read:

I also follow over 1000 users on Twitter. My favorite are Michael Malice, JBurtonXP and Michael Tracey.

I usually follow a ton of people on Twitter. A mix of across the spectrum and including reporters I find credible. Haven't found any Trumpists who are intelligent enough to defend their God Emperor on a consistent basis on Twitter though.

I only read The Atlantic on a regular basis, good stuff everywhere.

Can't really pin 'em to one side or the other, or even the middle. They are effectively True Neutral atm.

WaPo, NYT, BBC, NPR, and The Economist are ones I have a subscription to / check out frequently. AP and Reuters are pretty standard news outlets to check out as well. Vox clearly has a left lean, but their informative content and high production values lure me in. I also normally avoid cable news altogether, but Jake Tapper on CNN tends to be decent, and actually, CNN in general has been of much higher quality since Trump won. They still aren't very good though.

I subscribed to the FT for years and practically worshiped the paper because of Lex and Martin Wolf but I let my subscription lapse last year because of how openly anti-Trump it was. I read Breitbart for a while, but it got way too spammy (and boring) and I unfollowed them on social media back in October.

Now I basically watch/read (in order of consumption):

- Morning Joe
- Sputnik
- Whatever Sarah Palin shares on FB
- Jerusalem Post
- Bloomberg
- Mornings with Maria (when Morning Joe repeats segments)
- Drudge
- Infowars

This forum, followed far behind by academic databases I use for papers.
