"when the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected.  while it is no excuse for this (priest) scandal, it is no surprise that boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in america, lies at the center of the storm."--rick santorum, 2003.

I bet if the scandal happened in Pittsburgh he'd keep his evil mouth shut about this issue. I wonder why all those hardworking steelworkers in Pittsburgh like this castrated choirboy whose economic goals are diametrically opposed to theirs.  I hope they don't also take their dead feti home with them and sleep in bed with it (ewww!!)

Ah, but you will note that the priest scandal did not happen in Pittsburgh.

Actually their were several allegations of abuse my Priests in Pittsburgh. Their were not as many as in the Boston scandel but their were certain a good number who did file suit against the Pittsburgh diocese with claims of abuse as children.

I would also really like it if you would stop stereotyping Pittsburghers. I myself am a Pittsburgher and hardly the "hardworking steelworker" who you claimed all Pittsburghers are. And what in the name of hell is that last sentence supposed to mean? I hope that's the last time I see you stereotyping Pittsburghers as just a bunch of working class steelworker bums you snobbish idiot. Did you know that their is only one working steelmill in Pittsburgh and our largest industry now, or one of our larger ones, I believe, is medical research? Why don't you get your head out of your ass before you start defaming a great city like mine again.

I've debated this before in the thread about his book. Take a look. I'm not going to repost everything.

People, priests have been having sex with little boys from time immemorial - it is only American prudery which has recently made it an issue.

In a sense, he's right. Well, since the celibate has been enforced, anyways.
Of course, we're not talking of all priests or most priests, just of some priests.

I have to say that I don't agree with this statement that Santorum supposedly made.

This type of thing takes place in conservative as well as liberal areas.  While I think that liberal policies have had a devastating social effect on family structure, with a residual negative impact on economic status, crime, etc., the priest scandal is not a liberal/conservative thing.  Even Boston is not liberal enough to actually condone this type of thing, and enough of it exists in conservative areas to make the statement a little ridiculous.

Obviously, no.  How then does Santorum explain Seattle's crackdown on strip clubs, since it is a sister city of San Francisco, and perhaps even more liberal (politically) than Boston?
